Anna Fayewicz, 91, of Temple, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in the residence of her niece, Kathy Matisko, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Born in Lackawanna County, Pa., on March 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Milyan, Sr. and Eva (Hywlut) Fayewicz.

She was a member of the former Salem Evangelical Congregational Church in Hamburg for many years, and retired from AT&T Reading Works in 1987, after 20 years with the company.

Previously, she had been employed by the Merit Underwear Company in Shoemakersville for 13 years.

Humble and hardworking, she spent her life serving others. Her education at Perry Township High School ended in the tenth grade when her mother became ill. Her training as a missionary with New Tribes Mission in Wisconsin was interrupted when she returned home to care for her sick father. In 1997, she helped tend to her sister, Kathryn, who had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Anna was predeceased by six brothers: Frank Kuzan, Andrew Kuzan, Paul Kuzan, Michael Fayewicz, Sr., John Fayewicz, Sr., and Milyan Fayewicz, Jr.; and two sisters: Mary (Kuzan) Koenig and Kathryn (Fayewicz) Spatz.

She was a generous and loving aunt, and will be sadly missed by her numerous surviving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., Temple, followed by interment in the Laureldale Cemetery. Relatives and friends may attend a viewing on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
